DeepEnema

A colonoscopy of the large intestine requires a preparatory procedure in such a way that after it the intestinal cavity will be completely clean. Cleaning the walls of the intestine is critical to ensuring a quality test.

DeepEnema  is a bowel cleansing procedure that is performed on the day of the test without the need to swallow the emptied liquid. during the DeepEnema water is inserted deep into the intestine and washed.

A sleeve-based colonic lavage system

In order to complete the little home preparation (which includes taking 3 Laxative pills on the eve of the test), a special delicate sleeve is inserted into the intestine, which simultaneously enters and exits warm water that washes the intestine.   The process lasts about 20-30 minutes until the level of cleanliness is satisfactory.

Upon completion of the cleaning process, the subject goes to the colonoscopy institute, where a standard colonoscope is inserted that performs the usual colonoscopy examination, identifies lesions (polyps, inflammations, etc.) and performs procedures (excision of polyps, taking biopsies).

colon description

Why introduction water through the anus will not clean the colon?

One of the main problems that eliminate the use of a regular enema as a sufficient method for colonoscopy preparation is the anatomical structure of the large intestine.

Water introduced through the anus cannot reach the position, the furthest part of the colon seen during a colonoscopy.

The large intestine is too curved and twisted to allow the water to reach all parts of the large intestine and clean them.
